Classmates 1950-1957
Richard attended the Reunion as a Karaoke operator.
Richard, Sandy and Glenys Wilkinson were the sole Form 2
pupils in 1957 and were allowed a fair degree of autonomy and
responsibility within the classroom, especially with the
younger pupils, in number and reading.
Sandy was the first ex-pupil to train and return to the “old
school” to teach in 1966. However it was Mary Johnson who
earlier spent time at Kimihia looking after the Primer classes
before moving on to train at Teachers’ College. Mary left
Huntly College in her 5th Form year to fill the need at Kimihia

School.

Glenys Hoyes
became the second ex-pupil who trained as a
teacher and returned to Kimihia School.
